Charles Ives

(download)

This is an experiment to see if this will post on my blog,ha, my blog, that's rich.  This is a powerpoint presentation summing up some work I did with kids a couple of years ago. Charles Ives, wasn't a madman at all, but his music was considered a tad wild and crazy.  What I really wish I could show everyone is the original music the students wrote,it was stunning, simple, but fabulous. We used xylophones, glockenspiels and lots of imagination.

Loving the postings

Dear All,

I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing. But isn't that fun?  I think this will show up on my blog page, but it might be showing up some place else as well.  Soon will find out. I have been loving the postings that have appeared today, especially the beautiful one about arriving at JFK and sensing, experiencing the difference in the "air" in America since the beloved Obama took office and Mr. Bush left. There is an amazing and palpable sense of not just relief but happiness, despite all the messes we need to address. Dare I say there is a sense of optimism that I've not felt in many a decade, maybe before Martin Luther King and  Bobby Kennedy were killed was the last time I felt wonderful about being alive and active and committed. I guess we'll have to see how it all goes, but this feeling, hey, they can't take that away from me.  You are such a magical bunch. Safe journey to all.
